Teaching Philosophy

As a piano teacher, my desire is to unlock the wonder and adventure in the world of playing piano. Music is such an incredible and amazing journey that can be fun and exciting but still requires hard work and discipline on the part of the student, and my goal is to give my students the tools they need to confidently pursue this journey in a fun, educational atmosphere. Each lesson is carefully crafted for each individual student based on their personality, interests, and their style of learning.

Repertoire is carefully selected and include at least one piece in the Baroque Era, the Classical Era, the Romantic Era, and Contemporary Era as well as Christmas pieces, Sacred pieces, and fun artistic pieces.

Music theory and music appreciation (which includes some composer history) are also key components of the studio which help the student become more well-rounded in the realm of music so that they can know and understand how to confidently approach new assigned repertoire or simply pick up a piece of music they have been wanting to learn on their own time. Through completing assigned worksheets, playing games, and participating in other fun studio activities, students are able to review what they have been learning in their lessons in a fun, enriching atmosphere and also gain an overall view of how the concepts they are learning tie into the bigger picture of the wonderful world of music.
